Saudi officials murdered journalist Jamal Khashoggi in their Istanbul consulate after plotting his death for days, Turkey’s president said Tuesday, contradicting Saudi Arabia’s explanation that the writer was accidentally killed. He demanded that the kingdom reveal the identities of all involved, regardless of rank.
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan also said he wants Saudi Arabia to allow 18 suspects that it detained for the Saudi’s killing to be tried in Turkish courts, setting up further complications with the Saudi government, which has said it is conducting its own investigation and will punish those involved. Saudi Arabia has described the suspects as rogue operators, even though officials linked to Saudi Arabia’s assertive Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman have been implicated in the killing.
“To blame such an incident on a handful of security and intelligence members would not satisfy us or the international community,” Erdogan said in a speech to ruling party lawmakers in parliament.
“Saudi Arabia has taken an important step by admitting the murder. As of now we expect of them to openly bring to light those responsible — from the highest ranked to the lowest — and to bring them to justice,” said the Turkish president, who used the word “murder” 15 times in his speech.

The government is forecast to collect £28.3 billion in fuel duty this financial year, and yet those who drive pure-electric vehicles will contribute precisely zero to that figure. So what will happen when we’re all humming about in electric vehicles?
The think tank Policy Exchange estimated last year that the government could lose up to £170bn by 2030 by allowing electric cars to slip through the duty net. It stands by the figure today.

However, the pace remains well below the progress seen in troika-supervised economies. While the external adjustment is proceeding well, the fiscal adjustment falls short of that seen in countries such as Greece, Ireland, Portugal and Spain at the euro periphery.
Slovenia’s (No. 8) score improved markedly due to a big drop in its private consumption ratio to 54.1% of GDP in 2013, down from 56.2%.
Slovenia (No. 16) managed to avoid a bail-out, but its debt profile score suffers as foreign ownership of its public debt securities rises to 69.1% in 2014, up from 53.7%. That may be a vote of confidence by investors, but makes Slovenia more vulnerable for future swings in market confidence.
The lowest private sector debt ratios can be found in central and eastern Europe, with Slovakia (No. 1), Poland (No. 2), Latvia (No. 3), Slovenia (No. 4) and Germany (No. 5) leading the pack.

After a significant gain last year, Slovenia (No. 9) maintained a satisfactory pace of adjustment in 2016 with a score of 5.0, well above the eurozone average of 3.7. Having managed to escape troika scrutiny, Slovenia has nonetheless embarked on an impressive course of adjustment and reform. The once sluggish pace of change has quickened. However, the pace remains well below that seen in troika-supervised economies in previous years. While the external adjustment is proceeding well, the fiscal adjustment falls short of what Slovenia needs to make its fiscal position sustainable.
Only Slovenia (No. 8) – which managed to avoid having to ask for external help by a whisker – comes close with a mere 0.6% increase in its labour costs.
Countries with a major loss of reform momentum in the 2014/15 period include the United Kingdom, Estonia, Slovenia, Sweden and Finland. For Estonia, which had reformed itself thoroughly and successfully in the wake of the Baltic crisis almost 10 years ago, this may be understandable. For Slovenia, Sweden, Denmark and Finland, however, we view this as a sign of complacency.

Nach SPIEGEL-Informationen prüft die Staatsanwaltschaft Berlin, ob der dauerhafte Einsatz von Unternehmensberatern im Wehrressort den Tatbestand der vorsätzlich verursachten Scheinselbstständigkeit erfüllt.
Als scheinselbstständig bezeichnet man Personen, die zwar als selbstständige Unternehmer auftreten, aber nur einen Auftraggeber haben. Wird dies festgestellt, muss der Auftraggeber die entsprechenden Sozialleistungen für den Arbeitnehmer nachzahlen. Wird ein Vorsatz nachgewiesen, kann der Arbeitgeber juristisch belangt werden.
Einen solchen Vorsatz unterstellt die Anzeige gegen von der Leyen. Demnach "wurden über einen längeren Zeitraum Berater eingesetzt, die dort wie Mitarbeiter beschäftigt" gewesen seien.

Spletna stran Rheinische Post (oz. RP Online v lepi nemščini) poroča, da imajo v Vaterlandu visokošolsko profesorko, ki si je iz fakultetne knjižnice sposodila 50 knjig, prekoračila rok izposoje ne da bi zaprosila za podaljšanje, ko pa jih je z zamudo vrnila in bi morala zaradi tega plačati 2250 evrov, se je obrnila na sodišče. Sklicevala se je na kršenje ustavne pravice do svobodnega raziskovanja in poučevanja. Upravno sodišče v Düsseldorfu je razsodilo, da ji ta pravica ni bila kršena in da zamudnina 20 evrov ter administrativna taksa 25 evrov na knjigo pri več kot 30-dnevni zamudi ni v nasprotju z načelom sorazmernosti.

Die Klage der Hochschullehrerin der Hochschule Niederrhein gegen die Gebühren wiesen die Richter damit zurück. Das Urteil wurde am Mittwoch veröffentlicht und ist noch nicht rechtskräftig. Gegen die Entscheidung kann Berufung bei dem Oberverwaltungsgericht in Münster eingelegt werden.

Za primerjavo: zamudnina v Mestni knjižnici Ljubljana znaša 0,30 EUR na dan za vsako sposojeno enoto, v Centralni tehniški knjižnici pa samo 0,20 EUR na dan. No, če si opazil, se je Pahor tudi v tem intervjuju hvalil z arbitražnim sporazumom, ki je v jeku krize pomagal preprečiti izbruhe nasilja, mogoče celo vojno med Hrvaško in Slovenijo. In medtem ko je Pahor s Kosorjevo na jugovzhodni meji reševal mir, so se mu za hrbtom prepirali in pretepali deželni elitneži, grabili in skrivali, kar se je dalo, luknjali banke, gradili TEŠ6, branili svoje in napadali njihove tajkune, potapljali firme itn. Ampak zaradi premierja Pahorja smo vse to, hvalabogu, lahko preživeli v miru, ki se je končal s kapitulacijo na obroke (Droga Kolinska, Ljubljanske mlekarne, ki so formalno last Dukata, Mercator, Žito...)

Jaz imam neko čudno idealistično prepričanje, da bi moral tako majhen narod z majhnim kadrovskim bazenom za spodobne karierne politike nekaj spodobnih parkirišč, kjer bi leto ali dve ali en mandat počeli kaj v javno dobro, za lastno strokovno izpopolnjevanje ipd., potem pa se spet vrnili na sceno. Kot ene transparentne vice za politike, za katere bi se lahko točno vedelo, kaj in kako dobro so nekaj počeli, ko so bili parkirani tam. Ker partijsko in interesno zagotovljene sinekure so lahko zelo kontraproduktivne in hudičevo seme korupcije.

Težko primerjam njuno delo, priznam pa, da se ne spomnim, da bi se Potočnik z mezincem leve roke dotaknil notranje politike. On je elegantno jadral nad vso to deželno štalo, kar je lahko posledica osebnostnih vrlin ali osebnega položaja ali obojega.

V Vaterlandu imajo veliko in vedno več odpadne plastike. Letos naj bi ta masa količinsko narasla za 3,9%, vrednost posla s plastično embalažo pa za 5,1% - na dobrih 15 GEUR, poroča Spiegel.

Ta posel bo po pričakovanjih še zelo naglo rasel. Vozniki, ki privolijo v deljenje svojih podatkov, so deležni ugodnosti, poroča CBS News. Vendar vsa ITK ipd. šara, ki jo tlačijo v avtomobile, bistveno podraži popravila. Vsak deseti odrasli prebivalec Nemčije kljub konjunkturi in nizki stopnji nezaposlenosti ne zmore več redno plačevati svojih računov. Naraščajoče najemnine in cene nepremičnin ljudi vodijo v prezadolženost, njihovi dolgovi pa skupno znašajo 208 GEUR, po Creditreforminem poročilu "Schuldneratlas 2018" povzema Spiegel.

Am geringsten war die Überschuldung weiter in Bayern (7,43 Prozent) und Baden-Württemberg (8,31 Prozent). Während die Verschuldungsquote im bayerischen Landkreis Eichstätt gerade einmal bei 3,85 Prozent lag, war sie in Bremerhaven mit gut 21 Prozent mehr als fünfmal so hoch. Das eigentliche Sorgenkind sei aber die Region um das Ruhrgebiet, schrieben die Experten. Die Überschuldungsquoten seien in vielen Städten der Region sowohl im Jahres- als auch im Langzeitvergleich zum Teil deutlich gestiegen.

Zemljišča lahko kupi in uporabi tako, da bo ob svoji dejavnosti tudi bogato črpal subvencije, kar je postala nemarna navada med (pre)velikimi združbami tipa Apple, Amazon, Facebook, Google...

Ta piše o naraščajoči porabi električne energije za razne "oblake" oz. strežniške centre in podatkovne hrambe in napoveduje, da bodo ti skriti behemoti leta 2030 lahko požrli že petino vse električne energije na svetu. Koliko je bodo porabili razni čudežni blokčejni in koliko elektrosamovozi, ni omenjeno.

Lars Schedin is the CEO of the Swedish company EcoDataCenter. By using uniquely sustainable energy, and repurposing the waste heat generated by servers to warm people’s houses, it claims to be the world’s first “climate positive” data centre.
“If you watch an HD Netflix film it uses as much CO2 as driving for 300km,” he says, armed with an array of self-calculated statistics that he hopes will combat the world’s apathy to the issue of data centre pollution. “Despacito has been streamed 5.5 billion times. That’s 350,000 tonnes of CO2— equivalent to the yearly emissions of 230,000 taxis in Stockholm.”

Francoists, nostalgists, day-trippers and rubberneckers formed a traffic jam of pilgrims along the A6 motorway and up the winding access road to the colossal, surreal mausoleum carved into a mountain outside Madrid, where a towering granite cross rises more than 150 metres straight out of the rock.

Handelsblatt spet poroča, kako Joe Kaeser, predsednik uprave Siemensa, poskuša krmariti skozi labirint moralno-etičnih problemov in faustovskih kupčij. Kaeser mora najti način, kako sklepati kupčije v kraljestvu "reformističnega" krvoloka in hkrati ohraniti čiste roke. Po tem, ko je (pod pritiskom "javnosti") zadnji hip odpovedal svoj nastop na oktobrski poslovni konferenci v Riadu in tvegal izgubo 20 GEUR vrednih kupčij, se Kaeser zdaj spet odpravlja v Savdsko Arabijo nagovarjati v imenu platinastega sponzorja in sklepati kupčije.
"Vedno je bolje govoriti z drugimi kot pa čez druge," je svojo željo po dialogu pojasnil Kaeser in dodal, da savdski program "vizija 2030" za Siemens pomeni poslovni potencial v vrednosti 30 GEUR.

In Dhahran, dem Konzernsitz von Saudi-Aramco, soll Kaeser nun die „Vision 2030“ diskutieren, jenes gewaltige Reformprogramm des massiv in die Kritik geratenen Kronprinzen bin Salman. Der Siemens-Chef soll dort laut Programm der „In Kingdom Total Value Add-Konferenz“ (Iktva) darüber sprechen, wie im Königreich künftig die industrielle Produktion gesteigert werden und Saudi-Arabien zum Produktions-Hub für die gesamte Region werden könnte.
Diskutieren wird Kaeser mit einem Aramco-Vizepräsidenten, mit dem saudischen Vizeminister für Energie- und Industrie, mit dem Chef der saudischen Initiative für Lokalisierung der Industrie und mit dem Vorstandsvorsitzenden des US-amerikanischen Konzerns Jacobs.
Im Aufsichtsrat gibt es Verständnis für die schwierige Lage Kaesers. „Es ist wirklich ein Dilemma“, sagte ein Kontrolleur dem Handelsblatt. „Er kommt nur schwer aus der moralischen Diskussion raus, und die wird vielfach nicht fair geführt.“ Große Kraftwerke würden vor allem noch in Ländern gebaut, in denen sich die Industrie und die Gesellschaft noch entwickelten. Es sei richtig gewesen, dass Kaeser in der aufgeheizten Situation Riad abgesagt habe. Doch verkaufe der Konzern keine Waffen, und es sei richtig, Gesprächskanäle offenzuhalten.
