Volkswagen said on Wednesday production at its largest factory had been curtailed in some areas because of a supplies shortage caused by a parts maker refusing to keep to delivery commitments.
"A supplier has suspended the contractually agreed delivery of components," VW said in an emailed statement. "This is creating a bottleneck in production" at the Wolfsburg plant which builds the top-selling Golf hatchback, the Tiguan SUV and Touran MPV as well as components.
Grappling with an emissions-test cheating scandal that is costing VW billions of euros, Europe's largest automaker is expected by analysts to seek price cuts from its suppliers to mitigate those costs.
VW said the regional court in Braunschweig, near Wolfsburg, last week issued an injunction that forces the supplier to resume deliveries but the company has not yet complied with the ruling.

Med VW in Preventom se pa dogaja na polno, kar so via sta.si zdaj opazili celo v Finance Lajv. Nekaj povzetkov zapleta, ki lahko VW povzroči do 40 MEUR izpada prihodkov na teden.
The dispute threatens to reduce earnings by up to 40 million euros ($45 million) a week -- according to Christian Ludwig, an analyst at Bankhaus Lampe -- at a time when VW is trying to boost sagging profit at its namesake brand by lowering annual spending by 1 billion euros. Two Prevent Group-owned suppliers providing transmission and seat parts have halted deliveries in a dispute about future development and supply projects.
A German court last week ordered the suppliers to begin delivering parts again, which the parts makers are refusing to do. An appeal in one of the cases has been set for Aug. 31. VW in the meantime has asked the court to fine the suppliers and allow the automaker to go to their factories and load up the parts on their own, the court in Braunschweig said in a statement. The parts makers have until next week to respond and the court will decide then on VW’s request, according to the release.
The shares dropped 2.1 percent to 119.20 euros and were down 1.5 percent as of 1:29 p.m. in Frankfurt trading. The stock has declined 10 percent this year, valuing Europe’s biggest carmaker at 62.4 billion euros.

Volkswagen (VOWG_p.DE) will cut working hours for more than 10,000 staff at its Wolfsburg base and reduce output at two more German sites, a source close to the company said, as the carmaker faces supply problems caused by a parts maker not keeping to delivery commitments.
The disruptions coincide with similar problems in Emden, VW's northern German plant where supplier Car Trim GmbH, a sister company of ES Automobilguss, stopped deliveries of seat covers earlier this month. Both firms are part of Wolfsburg-based Prevent DEV GmbH. Prevent has not responded to a Reuters' request to comment.
Grappling with an emissions-test cheating scandal that is costing VW billions of euros, VW is expected by analysts to seek price cuts from its suppliers to mitigate those costs.
VW said in June it would integrate components units with the goal of saving costs and boosting efficiency from a single management and unified strategy.
